RefectoCil Intensifying Primer - Strong Effect (15ml)
Pre-Tint Priming Step for A Very Intense, Pronounced Skin-Staining Effect Skin Staining
RefectoCil Intensifying Primer is an optional pre-treatment used before eyebrow tinting to prepare the skin for a more even tint result. The Strong Effect version is formulated to produce a very intense, pronounced skin-staining effect, giving artists a way to fine-tune how much the tint reads on the skin versus the brow hair itself. Used as the first step in the Intense Brow[n]s system, ahead of the Base Gel and Activator Gel, it's applied for a short dwell time and removed before the tinting process continues, making it a quick add-in rather than a separate service.

When should I reach for the Strong Effect instead of the Medium Effect, or the other way around?
The choice comes down to how much of a skin-staining, powder-brow look the client wants underneath the hair tint itself — Medium gives a softer stain while Strong pushes it further. It's worth doing a small test area on a new client before committing to Strong on their full brow.
Why did the staining effect come out patchy instead of even?
Uneven skin prep is the most common cause — any leftover oil, makeup, or dead skin can cause the primer to absorb unevenly. Degreasing thoroughly with an eye make-up remover or saline solution before this step usually resolves it.
Can I skip the Base Gel and go straight from Primer to Activator Gel?
No — the Base Gel is what actually carries the tint colour, so skipping it means the Primer step won't translate into a coloured result. The sequence needs all three steps in order to work as intended.
Does using the Intensifying Primer change how long the final tint lasts?
It mainly affects how much colour reads on the skin rather than how long the tint holds on the hair itself, so retention should track with the Base Gel and Activator Gel combination used. It's an intensity control, not a longevity booster.
Is it safe to use this step on a client getting their first-ever tint?
Since it's an added intensity step rather than a core requirement, it's reasonable to skip it on a first-time client and add it in a later appointment once you know how their skin and hair respond to tinting in general.
