What is the practical difference between L, LB, LC and LD?

They share the L-family's flat base that travels outward before lifting, and differ in how much curl follows - LB the softest, LC moderate, LD the strongest. The flat base is what matters: on hooded eyes it clears the lid before curling, which no amount of C or D curl can replicate.

When would I use M curl?

On lashes that are flat but not actively pointing downward - the group where C looks lazy and L reads as reaching sideways. It is the curl most artists discover late and then use constantly, particularly through the centre of the eye on mature clients.
