How do I get a wet-look effect rather than just a fuller classic set?

Cluster the fans in tight groups with clear gaps between them, so light catches the clusters and the spacing reads as separation. Spreading the same number of fans evenly gives you a slightly denser classic set and none of the wet look's signature contrast.

What ratio of classics to fans works for a hybrid?

Most artists land between 70:30 and 50:50, weighted toward more fans through the outer third. The exact figure matters less than making both components visible - at 90:10 the fans read as stray thick lashes rather than as texture.

When should I choose DD curl at this density?

For spike work on flat natural lash angles, where a strong lift is the point and there are no neighbouring fibres to soften a mismatch. On a subtle hybrid map DD usually reads as an error rather than as design, because a single strongly curled fan among classics stands out.

Do 3D fans give better retention than heavier fans?
