• Treating 0.03 like a heavier diameter with adhesive — excess glue wicks up ten fine fibres quickly and closes the fan. Use a controlled dot and dip only the bonded base.
• Applying 10D to every client — a sparse or previously stressed lash line may not carry the density comfortably. Assess the natural lashes and drop to a lower fibre count where needed.
• Rushing isolation because the fans are light — at this density a stuck neighbour shows as a gap two weeks later. Isolate fully on every placement.

My 10D sets look dark but flat in photographs — is that the fan or my mapping?

Usually mapping: at this fibre count density arrives early, so a single length across the middle reads as a wall rather than as texture. Step the lengths through the map and vary curl slightly between layers so the light has something to catch.

Can I blend 10D 0.03 with a 5D 0.07 tray in one set?

Yes, but keep the two in separate zones rather than alternating lash by lash — the weight and base size differ enough that mixing them randomly shows as uneven texture. Many artists run the finer 10D through the top layer and the heavier fan underneath.

Why do my fans close between picking them up and placing them?

Either the dip is too deep or the tweezer is gripping above the bonded point and squeezing the fibres. Grip at the base itself, and if a fan closes, discard it rather than trying to reopen it on the lash.

How do I explain to a client why a 10D set can be lighter than her old 3D set?

Weight comes from total fibre mass, not fibre count — ten fibres at 0.03 can weigh less than three at 0.07. Showing the two diameters side by side usually lands faster than explaining the arithmetic.

Do single lengths or mix lengths make more sense for a busy studio?

Single lengths cost less time at the tray because you are not hunting for the length you need, which matters on back-to-back days. Mix trays suit artists who map creatively or who work across very different eye shapes in a week.
