1. Cleanse and prime the lower lashes and gel-pad or tape the lower lid to protect the skin.
2. Have the client keep her eyes open, looking down slightly - lower lashes cannot be worked on with the eye closed.
3. Choose the diameter: 0.07 for a natural finish, 0.10 for defined doll-eye styling.
4. Isolate a single lower lash - they are finer and closer together than upper lashes.
5. Use a smaller glue dot than for upper lashes, since the fibre and lash are both finer.
6. Place the extension following the natural downward growth angle, keeping the base clear of the skin.
7. Use the shortest sizes at the inner and outer corners and slightly longer through the centre.
8. Check the lower line with the eye open before finishing, and cure fully.

• Working with the eye closed - lower lash work must be done with the eye open, or the extensions will bond to the upper lashes or the pad. Reposition the client rather than adapting the technique.
• Using upper-lash lengths - anything beyond 8mm on a lower lash looks obviously applied and irritates the eye.
• Using a curled extension - a C or D curl on a downward-growing lower lash points into the cheek. J curl exists for this reason.
• Placing too close to the skin - the lower lid is more sensitive than the upper and any base contact causes immediate irritation.

How many lower lashes should a set actually take?

Far fewer than an upper set - most artists place only a fraction of the lower lash line, concentrated through the centre with the corners kept sparse. A fully lashed lower line reads heavy and ages the eye rather than opening it, which is the opposite of what most clients want.

Why must the eye be open during lower lash application?

Because with the eye closed, the lower lashes sit against the upper lashes and the gel pad, so any extension you place will bond to them. Working with the eye open and the client looking down is the only way to isolate a lower lash cleanly.

0.07 or 0.10 for lower lashes?

How long do lower lash extensions last?

Can lower lashes be applied at the same appointment as an upper infill?
